FHI Connection: Inspiring ideas, solutions and information for conscious-minded women

Earth Day is upon us! The signal that spring is in full swing; but this year, I am suggesting that we make Earth Day~Everyday. It's simple really, Just follow your heart every step of the way and be mindful of Mother Earth (She'll thank you on Mother's Day). Being mindful is simple if you set up your lifestyle so that Earth-friendly choices become a part of your everyday. One EASY way is to think about your food. If you bring awareness around your food choices and the impact they have on our world, you can make a BIG impact on Mother Earth's health. Choose pesticide-free foods, keeping chemicals out of our soil AND your body.

According to a report on foodnews.org, the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) anaylsis of data from over 43,000 tests on pesticides in conventional produce (non-organic) suggests that,Over 90% of ingestion of pesticides in foods can be eliminated by avoiding the most contaminated foods. The "Dirty Dozen" most contaminated foods are peaches (97 percent tested positive for residue), apples (92 percent tested positive), sweet bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, pears, imported grapes, spinach, lettuce and potatoes.

The "Consistently Clean" are onions (90 percent tested negative), avocados (90 percent), sweet corn (90 percent), pineapples, mango, asparagus, sweet peas, kiwi, bananas, cabbage, broccoli and papaya. "Federal produce tests tell us that some fruits and vegetables are so likely to be contaminated with pesticides that you should always buy them organic. Others are so consistently clean that you can eat them with less concern." Says EWG Senior Vice President Richard Wiles.

Enjoy the spring, plant some flowers! My favorite is Lily of the Valley, What's Yours? Tell me in 50 words or less why you love the flower that you do and you may win flowers from FHI. Email me at Beth@ForHerInformation.com.

This week we're featuring one of our FHI partners, Amber Hewitt.

Amber Hewitt is a mompreneur and proud mommy of two boys, Parker (6) and Ashton (4). Amber lives in Calgary, Alberta Canada with her wonderful boys and hubby of 9 years. Amber owns several online businesses. This is her story.

Amber started off in the internet world not knowing anything about websites and how they work but with the help of a friend and teaching her self online started off with two online baby photo contests. She had the opportunity to see so many beautiful babies and baby products, it gave her the idea to open a mommy and baby boutique! So PhotoBugBaby Boutique was born! Amber since sold the photo contests as she wanted to concentrate on PhotoBugBaby Boutique and her new hip mommy community, Swanky Moms. Both businesses continued to grow and she loved owning her own businesses and continued to learn more about the online world. In addition to PhotoBugBaby Boutique and Swanky Moms, she now also owns Mommy Bids, a free auction house for parents! She also co-owns, Mommy's Web Solutions and Mom Portfolio! Her goal is to continue to help and promote as many other moms and wahms be sucessful and enjoy what they do!! Keep up the good work Amber! If you or someone you know is a super girl, like Amber, send us a note and possibly feature her in an upcoming newsletter! Beth@ForHerInformation.com
