Did you know that 60 percent of Americans are vitamin D deficient?

Dr. James E. Dowd aims to change that with his landmark book, The Vitamin D Cure.

Listen this Thursday, May 15th at 2pm Central Time (click here) as my co-host, Susie Sondag, and I chat with Dr. Dowd about:

  • How we got here (being vitamin D deficient)
  • How vitamin D deficiency is linked to the most prevalent diseases of our time
  • What pregnant women & parents of young children should know
  • Why African Americans and Latinos are at greater risk
  • 5 steps to more vitamin D and peak health

Dr. James E. Dowd is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University and the founder and director of both the Arthritis Institute of Michigan and the Michigan Arthritis Research Center. Dr. Dowd's board certifications include general internal medicine, adult rheumatology, and pediatric rheumatology. When Libby McDonald began her relentless journey to unearth the major key toxins that threaten the well-being of our children, she did so not as a scientist but as a concerned mother.

The result of her year-long investigation is THE TOXIC SANDBOX: The Truth About Environmental Toxins and Our Children's Health (Perigee; November 6, 2007).

McDonald hopes that this book will serve as an accessible resource guide for everyone--from parents and health professionals to school administrators and lawmakers--to finally get real answers about the link between children's health and environmental risks, as well as the steps we need to take to keep them safe from those risks.

Listen to our interview with Libby this Thursday, May 15th at 2pm Central time (click here)
