It's
been over a year since Al Gore won the Oscar for the
movie, The
Inconvenient Truth, however, the planet still
needs our attention. Every day I'm reminded, in some
way or another, about the changes we all need to make
to lessen our impact on the planet and help prevent
global warming. Just last night, I attended an event
where this very topic was discussed. Are we doing our
part? Are we trying, every day, to lessen our own personal
impact on the planet? It takes effort. No one said it
would be easy, but here is one way you can chime in
and be counted--for doing your par--for today. Thanks
to our book editor, Falise Platt, for bringing this
information to my attention--and now yours.
The
Paint for the Planet Auction will be taking place on
Saturday, October, 25th at the Harvard Club of New York.
This special night launches the United Nations campaign,
"Unite to Combat Climate Change". This campaign
is a call for definitive agreement at the climate change
talks in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009. Listen
to the powerful plea from our children to answer the
climate challenges now before it is too late. The auction
features 27 original paintings collected over the last
17 years from the UNEP's International Children's Painting
Competition. Through the magic of technology everyone
in the world can participate in the on line bidding
on October 25, 7:00 pm - 9:00pm EST. Benefits from the
auction will fund UNICEF's emergency relief for children
in areas affected by climate related disasters. For
more information and to see the works of art please
