Sugar for your Sugar

February 8, 2007

A special treat for Valentine's Day

My nutritionist and friend, Sherry Belcher, always tells me to keep sugar at bay. When eaten it's proven to weaken your immune system and age your skin; but when used as an exfoliating sugar scrub, you can dig right in.

Recently, the 'O Mamma Report shared this delicious sugar scrub recipe that I thought you'd really enjoy~Just don't eat it!

Coconut Almond Sugar Body Scrub

Sugar cane contains glycolic acid, one of the natural alpha hydroxy acids that exfoliates the skin. Dermatologists use it in peels and you can use it at home in much smaller concentrations to improve your skin's appearance and texture. (It may even reduce wrinkles and improve other skin conditions.)

It's amazingly easy to nourish and smooth your skin (or a loved one's...) from within your kitchen cabinet. And besides, afterwards, you'll have healthier, smoother, brighter-looking skin with a deliciously sweet glow ....

Ingredients:
1 cup Fair Trade Organic Sugar
2 Vitamin E capsules, popped and drained
3 Vitamin A capsules, popped and drained
1/4 cup canola oil (or another neutral-smelling oil)
5-10 drops of almond oil
5-10 drops of coconut oil

Mix it up, put it in a sealed jar. Take by spoonfuls and rub it on your hands and feet to exfoliate or use all over with a loofah or wash cloth! Rinse well and dry. You'll be amazed.

(Remember that because the skin on our faces is so very tender, you'll need to be extra gentle–especially around your eyes.)

Happy Valentine's
