Life can be tiresome when you have to balance children, a day job, household chores, friends and a whole host of other things. It can make you feel so busy and tired at the same time. Some people complain that 24 hours in a day is not enough. To chase their dreams, many busy women neglect their bodies. They don’t take time for themselves.

If you don’t want to suffer a breakdown, you have to make fitness your priority. Think of your health as an investment. It’s extremely important to maintain a sustainable fitness level when you are busy. Not only will you feel good, you will also feel better. If working out everyday is not an option for you, then two to three times a week is recommended. After you have decided on the exercise program, make sure that you incorporate it into your daily or weekly schedule.

Maintaining a fitness program means knowing that you can exercise anywhere. You don’t have to enroll in the gym. Always have a pair of sneakers ready for those in-between opportunities. Here, some suggestions for the on-the-go types out there:

If you have a car, park it in the farthest corner. By doing this, you will be walking more—every step counts!

Get into the habit of dancing. You may be surprised at how many calories you can burn through this activity.

Join charity events like walk- or bike-a-thons. There are countless organizations hosting these kinds of events throughout the year. They cater to different levels of fitness. It’s also a great way to make friends and expand your circle.

Play with your children. This will give you a good opportunity to spend quality time with them and also burn some calories.

Don’t use the elevator, take the stairs.

If you are watching television or just sitting on your work desk, raise your legs and hold for a few seconds. Do this repeatedly and you’ll gain muscle tone without having to leave the keyboard.

Stress balls are quite effective. Take them with you during work or while watching television. This can improve blood flow, flexibility and relieve tension.

If you have time, walk around during lunch time.

Do some chores. Household work can burn calories like no one’s business, whether you’re working in the garden, sweeping floors or washing windows. Although this is not really vigorous exercise, it can help you move and at the same time put your house in order.

You can follow a routine that allows you time for yourself, your family and all your competing priorities. Remember that health is a priceless commodity. Don’t neglect it.
